Why I Think GoodBlogs Should Allow More Votes a Day
As of right now, GoodBlogs allows 5 votes per day, right? You can only vote once for each post. That’s fair and I love that, I absolutely do.
But…
Since I can normally only write in the evenings – and not just for time constraints, that seems to be my most productive time to write these days – I end up with lots of comments from well-meaning folks who are simply out of votes for the day.
I’ve been super blessed that those well-meaning folks – and very dear friends now! – are also very loyal and honest and come back the next day to throw a vote my way. And I am so very thankful and grateful for that. What a blessing!
However, if GoodBlogs allowed more votes a day – even if they just doubled it and allowed 10 votes per day – those of us submitting our posts at the "wrong time for the system" might have a better chance of being voted to the front page.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ve experienced only good things since I’ve been here and it’s not about just making it to the front page. Writing here is inspiring, healing, and the new friends I’m making here are simply precious and I love ‘em all!
And those extra votes we’d have would do far more than possibly maybe help us to find our way to the front page, they’d allow us to vote on more than just 5 good blogs a day – ‘cause goodness gracious there’s a lot of good writing going on around here!
I’d love to be able to vote for that 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th (etc.) blog post before I sign off for the night. Yes, if you stay up ‘till the wee hours, the voting systems rolls over to the new day and you can start again. But then you find yourself using tomorrow’s votes on yesterdays good blogs and then you’re voting bankrupt for that day again.
I’m just sharing my thoughts and getting this out there….
What do y’all think? Can we get more votes? Am I being greedy? Do you agree? Disagree? Why? Let’s figure this out.
Oh, and will you vote for this -- or are you vote bankrupt? ;-)

May 25, 2011, 12:26 pmJenH says:Michele, I am out as well! :-( But you raise some excellent points. Giving us more votes means more blogs would make the home page, but at this point they can only pay out so much! They are still such a new site and I know they are trying their best to get us more votes. I think there will be a transition period where, unfortunately, A LOT of great blogs just won't make it. But if we hang on a little longer, I know they will be able to give us more!Log in to reply -

I do try to remember to come back and vote where I promise to as well -- I even make sticky notes on my laptop to remember. I also sometimes share on Twitter/Facebook. I do look forward to more allowed votes, though. It'll be awesome! :-)Log in to reply -

May 27, 2011, 8:47 amSusan Paduano says:I agree with Jenn. This could really backfire if more votes were allowed and they ran out of money. Maybe what we could do is ask for this down-the-line. Plus this also could mean that they will up the voting scores too, to get on the homepage. I think that if it is made a goal instead and ask them to ascertain in one year, that will be better for all of us. Meanwhile patience is a virtue and we don't want to risk losing what we have now.Log in to reply -

May 27, 2011, 8:52 amMichele Tune says:Susan, you make excellent points! Yes, I agree that we want to keep what we have now -- it most certainly is precious. I was just throwing my thoughts out there. I think this is very possible in the near future as this site is quality and it's growing and I see so much potential here. I'm very grateful for this site, don't get me wrong, but I love to see things grow. That's why I love gardening... :-)Log in to reply -

May 27, 2011, 8:31 pmMysti Reutlinger says:Michele - I AGREE! I believe that we could use one or two more votes per day, but definitely not doubling them. I can go through every single day and find at least 6, if not 7 posts that are absolutely deserving of that click. Sometimes I find even more than that, which makes divvying out my 5 votes per day simply excruciating. This post just might have some fabulous mojo behind it, Michele! I loved seeing it on GoodBlogs' facebook page and the comments there, too. You definitely presented your thoughts brilliantly.Log in to reply -

May 29, 2011, 7:59 pmTeresa Thomas says:Michele, you got my vote on this as well. I agree with everyone on here. More votes would be nice, but, think of the economy as well. As one stated, this is still yet, all so new to everyone. They don't need to be running out of money any time soon. If that was to take place, then, no one would be getting paid. Yes, patience is a virtue. Therefore, we must wait. I want to also, congratulate you of being on the home page.Log in to reply -

May 30, 2011, 12:51 amdannybuntu says:@Michelle, I agree with you but I think there should still be a limit. Maybe 10 to 15 would be nice or maybe there should be a special parameter wherein more tenured and reputable (meaning not spammer) members get to have more votes. Something like that. :)Log in to reply -
May 30, 2011, 8:42 amJenH says:Danny, that's an interesting point. I once wondered if the GB members that actively blog should have more votes than members that just log on to read and vote. But keeping up with that would probably be exhausting! (On Jason's end, I mean.)Log in to reply -
